Meet
Carmen Smitth
A dedicated Port Coquitlam resident for 24 years, Carmen Smith built a life here alongside her husband, Elliott, raising their children, Maya and Jackson. Her local ties span generations; she was raised in the Tri-Cities, where her father Larry O'Doherty owned and operated a successful business in Port Coquitlam for over two decades.
Following a diverse eighteen-year real estate career, Carmen gained an intimate understanding of our city’s geography and the essentials of creating vibrant, functional spaces. Driven by a desire for public service, she transitioned into professional coaching, focusing on wellbeing. Carmen also had the personal experiences of caring for her father and professional work in the senior care sector, which transformed her into a passionate advocate for seniors and their support networks.
Currently, she remains deeply involved in local life, contributing to the Tri-Cities Seniors' Action Society, the Healthy Community Table, and the Tri-Cities Chamber. As a mentor for local women in business, Carmen has established a reputation as a pragmatic, results-oriented leader who prioritizes active listening and accountability.
Carmen is seeking a seat on the Port Coquitlam City Council to ensure proactive planning for our aging population, our local streets, and our shared prosperity.
